Thomas Burns sent this new Buddy Search to the KWE.  Hopefully someone reading this can help him out.  "I’m looking to connect with anyone who may have served with my grandfather, Private Orie John Burns, in Korean. He was originally from Trenton, a city in Butler County, Ohio, and served in the 5th Infantry Regiment of the 5th Regimental Combat Team. Based on available information, he served in Korea from approximately September 1951 to March 1953. I believe he was part of an 81-mm Mortar Platoon attached to one of the 5th Infantry’s three Heavy Weapons Companies: Company D (Dog) – 1st Battalion, Company H (How) – 2nd Battalion, and Company M (Mike) – 3rd Battalion. I’m researching his service to better understand which company he was assigned to, the timeframe of his deployment in Korea, and his role within the Mortar Platoon. If you have any information or served alongside him, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Please feel free to reach out to me at: [Please enable JavaScript.]
