Umrich, Col. William

Col. William Emrich went up on a ladder to clean leaves out of his gutter on 6 November 2005. The ladder slipped, he fell, and a broken rib punctured his lung. He died the next day. Lt. Bill Umrich was a USMC spot team officer in North Korea during the war.

Unruh, John Jr.

John Unruh Jr., 80, Jamestown, North Dakota, died November 17, 2005, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.  

Mr. Unruh was born October 31, 1925, in Beulah, North Dakota, the son of John Sr. and Katherine (Voegele) Unruh.  He grew up and graduated from Beulah High School in 1944.  From 1944 to 1946 he served in the US Navy during World War II.  He returned to Beulah and worked at the local hardware store.  He re-entered the Navy and served from April 1951 to May 1952 during the Korean War.

He married Shirley Ann Boldt on June 17, 1956, in Jamestown.  They lived in Jamestown.  He worked for Midwest Motors for 52 years as a bookkeeper.  Following his retirement, he spent winters in Arizona.  He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife; brother Dale (Mylo) of Denver; and three sisters: Helen Weiss, Denver, Martha Mason, Minot, North Dakota, and Bertha Schmidt, Jamestown.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Paul, and sisters Annie, Alvina and Hilda.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Gary Ball-Kilbourne officiating.  Burial was in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. 

Ursino, Rocco Patrick "Rocky"

Born on March 15, 1930 in Bari, Italy to Pasquale and Marie Ursino, Rocco Patrick "Rocky" Ursino died on March 26, 2020 in Bellevue, Washington, from complications due to the Coronavirus.

Rocco served with the U.S. Marines in the Korean War after immigrating from Italy as a child. Ursino became an optician who worked at Sears stores before his retirement. He loved to make spaghetti sauce to share.

Rocco was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Ursino. He is survived by his children Christian, Michael, Leanne, Elizabeth, Angela, Rocky, Patrick, their spouses, and children.

Private burial services were held on Friday April 3, 2020 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
